GINGOOG CITY- To continually focus and strengthen her various ongoing and incoming projects for this year to various barangays, Mayor Marie de Lara Guingona has created the City Program Management and Implementing Unit (CPMIU) that will look into the outpouring funds from the Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP) of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

“There is an imperative need in composing this certain team to plan, build, implement and monitor the incoming two sub-projects of farm to market roads (FMR) amounting to P180 million to be implemented from barangays Malibud (upper portion) to Dinawehan then from Binakalan (crossing Limcomonan) to Kalagonoy to be funded by DA under its Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP). Besides, this group of committed employees will be able to be continuously responsive to DA-PRDP’s requirements on its pre-implementation stage and conform with the program designs set by the said national agency. I commend the unwavering dedication of our City Aggies personnel headed by Eduardo Sanchez in letting this administration avail to DA’s pro-poor projects”, stresses the city’s highest leader.

The lady executive has been briefed by Mr. Sanchez that CPMIU has three essential components in its structure. “They are I-PLAN, I-BUILD and I-REAP units which will be assisted by the support staff. I-PLAN means Investment for Planning at the Local and National Levels will be handled by the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) under Mr. Ancio Felisan. In addition, I-BUILD refers to Intensified Building-up of Infrastructure and Logistics for Development has to be taken well by City Engineering Office led by Engr. Felipa Baranda. In matters related to I-REAP, City Aggies will focus on the Investment for Rural Enterprises and Agricultural and Fisheries Productivity. These three units will be assisted by other sub-units on Monitoring and Evaluation (ME), Procurement, Finance, Social and Environmental Safeguard (SES), and Information, Education, Advocacy and Communication (IEAC)”, Mr. Sanchez elaborating.

Moreover, local PRDP’s focal person Engr. Randy Tecson has informed CPMIU members that they play salient roles for the materialization of this grand program for the benefits of our rural farmers who till hectares of banana and other crops which are highly considered by the regional office in enlisting Gingoog as qualified recipient of these multi-million projects from the Aquino administration through DA Secretary Proceso Alcala.

Mayor Guingona has been very grateful to the regional field office of DA ably directed by Mrs. Lealyn Ramos for always counting Gingoog as one of her agency’s project recipients. “With the influx of multi-million farm to market roads which I favorably called ‘peace roads’, our hardworking folks living in rural barangays will soon transform a better change in themselves for their families and communities”,
