GINGOOG CITY – “With the new dawn comes renewed hope, hope for the future our city with a clearer vision of the road ahead, a vision towards a just, peaceful and more progressive community”, emphatically opened by Mayor Marie de Lara Guingona in front of city employees, DepEd teachers, students, barangay officials as she delivered her New Year’s message to them.
Sitting on the executive chair for two years, the lady mayor has accepted that regardless of the few setbacks that her administration had faced in the past, she has sought to give everyone, especially to the less privileged, a fair shake and a chance for a better life like affording a youth home named as “Balay Pangarap” which houses disadvantaged street children that gives second chance to transform for their better future.
Attesting to her laudable pro-poor programs, Mrs. Joni Soccoro Eseos, a social worker focusing on PWDs says, “our loving Mayor has implemented ‘Handog Serbisyo’ to senior citizens and persons with disabilities who receive medical services and financial pension right at their houses”. Moreover, General Services Office in-charge Guido Guanzon has relayed that “4K or Kaaabag aron Kaserbisyohan ang Katawhan sa Kabaranggayan” is constantly bringing LGU’s basic services to various barangays and is keeping closer the city-barangay relationship”. In addition, “the sprouting farm-to-market roads (FMR) from the national fund of the Department of Agriculture (DA) through its regional field office has concretized Mayor Marie’s ‘peace roads’ and boosts agricultural sufficiency among farmers”, remarks City Agriculturist Eduardo Sanchez. Furthermore, “her ongoing livestock dispersal has helped recipients to value animals as partners of their livelihood”, says City Veterinarian Al Gonzales. Withal, City Engineer Felipa Baranda has mouthed that “Mayor Guingona’s multi-million infrastructure projects have geared up towards rising economy through the entry of various establishments that invest in our city”.
Being threatened time to time by insurgency and urban criminality, the chief executive has been intensifying city’s formidable defense by establishing Project Tindog, Project MGK or ‘Magpakabana Gingoog para sa Kahapsay ug Kalinaw’ in coordination with police, army, tanods, barangay officials and society in order to continue steering the wheel of economic progress and unitive development.
As to health-related concerns, “our office has been serving well to all 79 barangays because of Mayor Marie’s healthy and unwavering support to our various programs. We have excelled both in provincial and regional levels due to her dedicated and service-oriented regime”, expresses City Health Officer Grace Jadol. “We are doing our best with her incumbency in preventing one’s health and in maintaining everyone’s better condition. We are vying for malaria-free city for five consecutive years”, inspires Asst. Health Officer Agnes Centino.
In this 2015, “our city celebrates its emerald anniversary – our 55th year as city – a City of Good Luck. Help this administration to stand stronger, to be more united, more committed and to have greater resolve to serve our people even better. Mabuhay Gingoog. Mabuhay 2015!”, concludes Mayor Guingona.
