GINGOOG CITY – Declared by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as “Buwan ng mga Kababaihan”, the month of March depicts the period of power and beauty in this eastern part of Misamis Oriental as this country’s 35th competitive city under the  administration of Mayor Marie de Lara Guingona becomes the chosen venue for the prestigious competition of MISS PHILIPPINES-EARTH Misamis Oriental Pageant wherein a bevy of beautiful ladies in the province are vying for the crown and shall be our provincial bet to the national level in May this year at SM Mall of Arena in Manila.

The chief executive has warmly welcomed both the pageant owner – the Carousel Productions in Manila and its official franchiser – the MBV Statuesque Productions of Davao City for staging such reputable beauty-brain-talent scout among young women who will become ambassadors of our Mother Earth, amazons against climate change, advocates of environment, promoters of ecological balance, propagators of eco-system and other inter-related roles that await to be responsibly perform by them.

In a radio interview, the productions organizer Marlou B. Vales, Ph. D. relates, “I am very grateful to Mayor Guingona, to the city council, to Mr. John Venice Ladaga, to the Tourism Office staff and council, to all LGU employees, to Rotary Club of Gingoog Bay, to all Rotarians, to men and women in media, to all sponsors and benefactors, to the public in general for showing high level of support for the week-long activities of this beauty pageant.  Your magnificent city is added up with very cooperative residents.  We, in the Miss Phils.-Earth, are very glad and honored for the all-out efforts you have extended since its planning stage until these few days of materialization prior to its Grand Coronation Night on March 13.  Truly, you have contributed a greater part for the wonderful success of this spectacular event”.

As of press time, the office of Mayor Marie has been preparing for a luncheon and press conference on its last day in Gingoog with men and women behind the beauty search.  “I am very glad for showcasing our eco-tourism potentials through this nationally-known pageant.  Definitely, our city’s first-time hosting of this notable competition will again magnify Gingoog in the Philippine map through mass, print, broadcast, visual and social media.  Your candidates’ boosting presence manifests that our place maintains peace and order.  I am with all Gingoognons in optimistically supporting for the greater and deeper purpose of this event”, the lady mayor concludes.
