GINGOOG CITY – Enfleshing her executive thrust on sports development program among the in-school youth, Mayor Marie de Lara Guingona has cashed out budget from city’s school board in financially fuelling for our team ‘Gingoog Fortunes’ who actively participated the recently conducted Palarong Pampook being sponsored by the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental being held in Jasaan town.
“Believe in yourselves. Harness your skills and talents. Polish your caliber in sports. Apply your coaches’ hints. Soar up high because sports offers wider chances for scholarships that would lighten monetary burdens of your parents”, inspires the lady mayor as she shook hands to winning ‘Fortuners’ who are qualified for 2015 Palarong Pambansa to be hosted by the city government of Tagum in Davao del Norte.
The chief executive has been working hand in hand with teacher-coaches of the Department of Education (DepEd) under Dr. Myrna Castanos.
She has been coordinating with the event coordinators of the City Sports Development Council in facilitating programs and activities that will metamorphose simple schoolchildren to disciplined athletes.
“Like teachers’ belief, I adhere to the principle that sports is the ‘lavatory of students’ wherein we size up, train and explore our aspiring sports-kids and build them into champions for better and sustainable future, stresses Mayor Marie.
